Pregnant Directly After a Miscarriage

October 7, 2011 was the first day of my miscarriage. It was my second in less than five months and I was a little devastated. I didn’t bother going to the doctor because I was only around seven weeks pregnant and had already been through one.

Six weeks later, I was laying in my bed and thinking about how badly I wanted a baby, when I realized I hadn’t started my period yet. Not wanting to get my hopes up, I decided to wait a few more weeks.

Then ten weeks after my miscarriage, I took a pregnancy test and it came back POSITIVE! It was a weird feeling, reading that test, not sure if it was accurate and starting to think I was crazy.

I called the doctor and scheduled an appointment for January 3rd, 2012. It was 12 weeks and 4 days from my miscarriage.

They did an ultra-sound to measure the baby and see how far along I was because there was no way to know without a period to go from.

As the lady started the ultra-sound I said, “I bet I am just crazy and not pregnant”. She laughed and then I warned her, “It might be a dead baby”. Apparently I was feeling a little negative and really not wanting to get my hopes up.

But then there was a heart beat and a tiny, adorable baby! Hearing that heart beat was one of the biggest reliefs of my life! My baby was alive! More than alive, measuring 10 weeks and 4 days! Yay!

So, this baby is proof that after two miscarriages and getting pregnant immediately after a miscarriage you can still have a healthy pregnancy!
